Scheduled Monuments are the most significant of the many historic remains in our landscape – from iron-age hillforts to 20th Century military sites – they tell a story of our past. Much of the heritage in the North Devon Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is at risk from environmental impacts, lack of official protection and/or lack of public awareness. If lost, they can never be replaced.

Our project encourages local people to discover hidden heritage on the doorstep and totake practical action to conserve it. The training day will involve an indoor workshop and an outdoor practical exercise at a historic site. To take part in the survey project, participants need to be able to access remote areas sometimes over rough terrain.

An interest in history, archaeology and/or conservation of natural and cultural heritage would be an advantage, but it is not essential.
